FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze at Caldicot Comprehensive during the early hours of this morning.

It broke out in a single storey storage room at the school on Woodstock Way, with South Wales Fire and rescue called at 5.51am.

Four breathing aparatus and a hose reel jet were used to tackle the blaze in the unit, which measures 10 metres by 30 metres.

It had been put out by 8.30am and did not spread to any other part of the school. A fire crew remained on the scene Saturday morning, investigating the cause.

Crews from Caldicot, Chepstow, Cwmbran, Maindee and Malpas attended.
