AROUND 8,000 rock fans are expected to descend on Blaenau Gwent for this year’s Steelhouse Festival.

The line-up for the Welsh International Classic Rock Festival, now in its third year, includes headliners metal legends Saxon, guitarist Michael Schenker and rock giants Magnum.

The two-day event, organised in partnership with the radio station Planet Rock, will return to Hafod-y- Dafal farm, Cwm, near Ebbw Vale, on July 27 and 28.

Last year’s event attracted more than 5,000 people, who were entertained by headline acts Saxon, Feeder and Reef. Festival organiser Matt Rhead said: “We knew there was a big appetite for great rock music in the Blaenau Gwent area and if the bands came to us they really would find a warm welcome in the hillside.

“So we set about attracting high calibre, big-name acts for a value-for-money music event in the heartland of the Valleys.”

Local bands Buffalo Summer and Dead Shed Jokers will be joined by rising UK acts Voodoo Six, The Temperance Movement and Skam.

Weekend Passes are £65. Tickets are from www.steelhousefestival.com
