BIRDWATCHERS can once again witness the rare treat of seeing the a pair of nesting Goshawks raising the next generation of these beautiful but still persecuted birds.

The male and female birds have returned to the nest that last year saw two healthy chicks battle the odds and fly successfully into the wide world.

This year a new camera has been placed at the nest and a microphone installed hoping to capture the sounds of the family as it grows. The camera is already active showing the parent birds building the nest up in hopeful preparation for a new batch of eggs.

There are only around 500 breeding pairs in the UK so the camera provides an unusual glimpse into the life of the ‘phantoms of the forest’.

The live feed can be viewed at Cwmcarn Forest Visitor Centre or online.
