THERE has been a touch of Scotland in Newport this week – and not just the bitterly cold weather.

The city’s Riverfront Theatre welcomed Scottish Dance Theatre for the second time.

The dancers arrived on Monday and were given a tour of Newport Castle, which also provided the backdrop for two of the troupe, Eve Ganneau and Lewis Wilkins, to perform.

Yesterday the ten-strong contemporary dance company, based at Dundee Rep Theatre, staged a performance of What on Earth?! a show about a dream world of strange animals and plants.

Tonight, they are performing two works, Second Coming and Winter, directed by Fleur Darkin, starting at 7.30pm Theatre and arts director Nic Young said: “We are delighted to welcome back Scottish Dance Theatre to Newport. The work is always performed brilliantly, and we look forward to enjoying the street dance and Scandinavian influences on the two pieces they present this week.”
