Nominate a special person in your area
12:20pm Friday 15th March 2013 in News
DO YOU know someone who has shown an act of bravery or works hard for the people in their neighbourhood?
Time is running out for you to send in your nominees to honour people who excel at helping others to be recognised at the upcoming Gwent Police Awards.
For the second year, the South Wales Argus is teaming up with Gwent Police to look for someone who deserves to claim the Argus Argus Active Citizen Award.
Last year’s winner was Lee Harvey from Malpas in Newport. He picked up the award for setting up a Neighbourhood Watch after his family home was burgled in 2010.
It led to dozens of people going to monthly meetings and 600 homes getting newsletters.
Anyone can nominate a member of the public for the Argus Active Citizen Award and there is no age limit.
We are looking for the unsung heroes of Gwent who have done their bit to help out in their communities.
The winner will be chosen by a panel of judges, including Argus deputy editor Nicole Garnon.
A special certificate will be presented to the winner at an awards ceremony at the Drybridge Centre, Monmouth, on May 8.
To make a nomination, email ben.frampton@southwalesargus.co.uk, including ‘Argus Active Citizen Award’ in the subject line or write to: Ben Frampton, South Wales Argus, Cardiff Road, Newport, NP20 3QN.
Include your name, contact information, who you are nominating and why.
Nominations must be in by Wednesday 20th March.
