LAB coats, crazy hair and colourful outfits brought a bit of fun to Usk Primary School as pupils took part in its second science innovation week.
The initiative, introduced by head teacher Jared Nolan, saw a light-hearted approach to learning in hands-on ways.
The schoolchildren were fascinated by experiments, viewing X-rays, plastering by an orthopaedic surgeon, and seeing a planetarium from Usk Astronomical Society. Pupils embraced the theme of the week when they came into school dressed as mad scientists for a day.
Mr Nolan said the three innovation weeks which run throughout the year, the other two being focused on friendship and a summer garden festival, are priceless. He said: “There’s always a very exciting atmosphere around school. As you walk around there’s this buzz. It’s noisy but purposeful noise and as a head teacher that’s great to hear.”
