ARGUS COMMENT: Looking for magic seven for Wales
HERE we go then. The big day is here.
Can Wales end a Six Nations tournament that promised so little after the first match by retaining their championship?
We hope that is uppermost in the minds of the Welsh management and players ahead of this evening’s game against England at the Millennium Stadium.
We are sure that will be the case. They are professionals and hopefully winning a trophy is more important to them than simply beating the old enemy.
Combining the two - winning the Six Nations while beating England - would be the perfect combination, of course, particularly as doing so would deny the English the Grand Slam.
It would appear that many fans still think beating England is the highlight of the season.
It is an old-fashioned notion and a mentality that hopefully will not seep through to the men on the pitch.
Professional rugby players should want to beat every team they face and win every trophy they can.
And Wales should have more pride and belief in itself as a nation that to obsess about the English.
Coach Rob Howley has done well to turn things around since the opening day defeat to Ireland.
Securing the Six Nations trophy for a second successive year will see his stock rise even further.
Let’s hope for a cracking game this evening - and a Wales win by those magic seven points. Dewch ar Gymru!

You ought to try being in Richmond Rugby club wearing a Welsh jersey after a game at Twickenham as I often do and you would undoubtedly be greatly offended by, what I would call banter and you would call racist comments that we make to each other, it might not be PC but it's good fun, win or lose.
Howie, it just goes to show that the simpleton mentality has not gone after all, fancy dredging such dross up, you should be ashamed of yourself. You are nothing but a small minded racist idiot. You will probably defend your small mindedness by saying that you were only quoting someone from a long time ago but sentiments like that have no place and no need to be repeated.
'You are nothing but a small minded racist idiot'.
I'm not bothered by you calling me a racist, in fact I find it quite funny, if you had read many of my previous posts you would realise just how wide of the mark you are. Are you saying that you cannot quote historical facts now because they could be misinterpreted as racist?, not only that, I am struggling to see how you have interpreted any of my comment as racist, perhaps you could enlighten me. As for being 'small minded' I suggest you look in the mirror to see one of those.
Anyway my English buddies have now got to buy Mrs Howie and myself Sunday lunch in a rather expensive restaurant in Cardiff, to the victors the spoils of war and Robodad I will not be giving your somewhat immature comment any thought as we carry on enjoying this fantastic weekend.
I hope that makes my position clear.
