POLICE are appealing for help after a man tried to snatch a woman’s bag in Monmouth.

The 18-year-old woman was approached from behind by a man as she got off a bus on the Link Road. He tried to grab her shoulder bag, but she managed to stop him and he ran off in the direction of Carbonne Close.

He is over five feet tall, of slim build and was wearing a dark hoodie, with dark tracksuit bottoms and white trainers.

Police ask anyone in the area at the time who saw anyone fitting the description or acting suspiciously to call Gwent Police on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
