Skinner Street attack victim left with serious facial injuries

A MAN suffered serious facial and head injuries after being attacked in Newport.

Police are appealing for information after the 38-year-old man from Newport was assaulted by two men at around 1am yesterday in Skinner Street.

The victim was receiving treatment at the city’s Royal Gwent Hospital tonight.

A 26-year-old man from Newport has been arrested on suspicious of grievous bodily harm with intent and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the identity of those responsible for the assault and anyone with any information is asked to call Gwent Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
