A £5.2 million train station will be built in Caerphilly.
Network Rail say the final plans are now ready for the station at Energlyn and it will open at the end of this year.
It will be located between Aber and Llanbradach and will serve the growing community around the Energlyn and Churchill Park areas.
Once completed it will be operated by Arrive Trains Wales and will give passengers direct rail access to and from Cardiff for the first time.
It is hoped the new station will significantly help ease road congestion, and cater to rising rail use in the area.
The project is another milestone in the South East Wales Transport Alliance’s Regional Rail Strategy, which since 2006 has formed the basis for continued investment in the regional rail network.
The Energlyn scheme has been developed jointly by Sewta, which co-ordinates transport strategy, plans and programmes for the ten local councils of South East Wales, the Welsh Government, Network Rail, Caerphilly County Borough Council, and Arriva Trains Wales (ATW).
