A NEWPORT man will be sentenced after admitting breaking open his partner's front door and throwing a lamp.
Matthew Hayward, 39, of Oakfield Road, appeared at Caerphillly Magistrates' Court where he admitted criminal damage and assault by beating of Tania Martin.
Prosecutor Rob Simkins described how both incidents happened on December 3 after Hayward became aggressive and Ms Martin locked him out of her house.
He said Hayward then started throwing things at the window and kicking the door . Mr Sinkins added: 'Ms Martin phoned police, saying 'he's smashing his way in. The door broke and he entered, taking a lamp off the windowsill and threw it."
Hayward pleaded guilty on the basis it wasn't thrown at Ms Martin, but it hit her on the left shoulder, causing soreness.
The court heard the couple have since reconciled their relationship.
District Judge Richard Williams adjourned sentencing until May 8, so report can be prepared that will "minimise the risks" to Ms Martin in the future.
