YOUNG performers will have their time in the limelight at this year's Castell Roc festival.

In previous years the spectacular has brought the best of the area's talent to Chepstow under its old name Rock in the Dell and this year will be no different, according to organisers.

The opening nights on August 24-25 will be known as 'GR8 Music Live.'

As part of the entertainment, there will be a 'Battle of the bands' competition for under 21s.

Saturday's headliners will be 4th Street Traffic, a band that have received rave reviews at the festival before, while Sunday's main act is T Rextasy, the official tribute band to Marc Bolan and T-Rex.

The latest announcements come thanks to the Free Press being the event's official media partner.

Tickets are already being snapped up for Max Boyce with The Treorchy Male Choir and Shan Cothi, The Jive Aces, The Rat Pack and Top Ten Rock Albums Live performed by Brit Floyd.

All events take place for a week from August 24.

Carol Mutlow, the main organiser, has had a tough time selecting who will make the final line-up.

"We have had an unbelievable task in selecting bands for this years shows, with both the quantity and quality of applicants being totally astounding," she said.

"We are not Glastonbury and we don't want to be either. We are proud to be small and perfectly formed, relaxed and chilled out, with some great bands and we also try and keep the price reasonable so it is affordable for everyone . This means we have an event that can be enjoyed by all.”

Details of all bands are available to view at www.castellroc.co.uk along with online sales.

Tickets can also be purchased at Hannah's Music, Chepstow and the town's tourist information centre.

A weekend ticket for both of the opening nights can be purchased in advance only for £10, with a licensed bar and food available on site.

Individual advance tickets for August 24-25 are £6 per night.
