MUSICIANS descended on a Newport micro brewery as they brewed up a batch of their namesake ale.

The beer 'Hadouken', created by Brad Cummings and Gareth Williams at the Tiny Rebel Brewing Company in Maesglas, created something of a storm on Twitter recently when fans of the band Hadouken! told its members of the coincidence.

Both the beer and the band are named after the 'Street Fighter' film and arcade game franchise, and three members of the five-piece dropped in on the brewery at the weekend to try their hand at making it.

The band later drank the pale ale on stage at the final gig of their current album tour at the Fleece in Bristol.

Mr Cummings said the boys also tried a few of the brewery's prototype ales which they're developing for the summer, including orange and coriander wheat beer and some barrel aged beers.

The brewery will throw open its doors for charity on May 31 when up to 300 members of the public are expected to come and sample the ales at the bar and, weather permitting, there will be an outdoor barbecue.
