VOLUNTEER ‘dungeon masters’ are needed to help with a grisly new exhibition.

‘Instruments of Medieval Torture’ at the Dorman Museum in Middlesbrough explores the horrors inflicted in the name of justice, featuring replicas of more than 50 blood-curdling methods based on objects amassed by private collectors and historians across Europe.

These include notorious devices such as the interrogation seat, the witches chair, the rack and the iron maiden.

The museum is appealing for volunteers to help run the display which can be seen from this Saturday until Tuesday, December 31.

The role involves collecting tickets, assisting in the gallery and interacting with the public, as well as front of house duties. Help is needed throughout the week, but especially at weekends and holiday times.

Shifts will be for a few hours at a time on a rotational basis alongside the Dorman’s existing staff and lunch vouchers will be provided for those volunteering for the whole day To volunteer or for more information, contact Voluntary Sector Liaison Officer Sharon Barker on 01642-729127 or email sharon_barker@middlesbrough.gov.uk.
