ACTION movies are all about the car chases, fight scenes and stunts - and one set to be released early next year will be featuring all that in Gwent locations.

Hollywood stuntmen Marcus Shakesheff and David Newton are bringing a touch of Tinseltown glamour to Newport.

Beat 'em Up Films, the newly established South Wales-based production company, has announced that principal photography is almost complete on their first feature film, Kamikaze produced by David Newton and David Ware.

Wales' first action film film boasts an all Welsh cast with high-octane action, car stunts, fights and explosions.

Shot in locations including Langstone, Caerleon campus, Spytty and St Julians, the film is the directorial debut pf of Newport action actor, Marcus Shakesheff, 32, who has appeared in a number of Hollywood blockbusters.

Newport born and bred, Mr Shakesheff, who plays character Evan Reed, has featured in films such as War World Z, Les, Miserables, and Harry Potter, recently appearing in Simon Pegg's latest film Hector and the Search for Happiness.

Keen to promote South Wales as much as possible, the former St Julians pupil was determined to find an all Welsh cast for the film to be released in 2014.

Mr Shakesheff said: "Having worked on big budget Hollywood action adventure films I was very aware that there has never been a Welsh action film.

"With Kamikaze, we were very eager to bring the excitement and spectacle of Hollywood productions mixed with the martial arts action of the east to South Wales.

"This is the first of it's kind and not the last".

The plot revolves round Mr Shakesheff's character, ex MI6 agent Evan Reed, who has been hired as a mercenary by Cabinet Minister David Markham, to steal files containing incriminating evidence linking the MP with weapons contractors.

When the mission backfires Evan is forced to fight his way through agents, thugs and a small mercenary army to rescue his kidnapped girlfriend and defeat his assassin.

The film aimed at action lovers aged 15-35 years old, will also star producer and Hollywood stuntman David Newton, who will bring even more action to the film as head henchman Gabe, a deadly assassin sent after Evan.

South Wales Tae Kwon Do specialist champion and YouTube star Aaron Gassor also known as the '''Ginger Ninja' will also appear in the film with some of his signature champion kicks.
