Firefighters try to save cat stuck on Newport mudflats

Firecrews have saved the cat stuck on mudflats in Newport. The animal was then handed over to the RSPCA.
The firecrews used a small boat and extension ladder to rescue the animal.

FIRECREWS are trying to retrieve a cat which is stuck on mudflats near the 'town' bridge in Newport this afternoon.
Around 10 firefighters are at the scene near and they are using an extending ladder to reach the animal and a net issued by the RSPCA to try and rescue the animal. A boat is also being used in the rescue.
