A NEWPORT director is looking to raise £3,000 to fund his new documentary.
Producer, director, and lecturer, Massimo Salvato, 42, is hoping to raise £3,000 to fund his documentary ,Jonny, which follows the journey of struggling artists.
The film teacher at Coleg Gwent Crosskeys campus, has just 19 days left to reach his target on his Kickstarter page, a website which helps artists fund their projects.
So far Mr Salvato, who has been in the business for more than 15 years, has raised 24 percent of that goal but needs to fulfil his target otherwise he wont receive anything toward the project.
The documentary is a feature length film about artist Jonathan Sherwood, one of the most distinctive voices within community art across the whole of Wales.
Jonny is about the personal journey of an artist and the world surrounding him, and it shows through his eyes the mini-diaspora that a group of artists is stuck in since their formation as a collective and eviction from the ‘regenerated’ town centre.
Mr Salvato said: “I have been working on the project over the past year and it is an important project which shows how artist still manage to create their art despite difficulties.
“I hope that the film will be viewed by a wide audience, will generate enough exposure for this remarkable experience and will help Artopsy to find a permanent studio.
“Please check our Kickstarter page and pledge anything you can afford to help this film to be completed”.
