UPDATE 9.17pm: Two missing teenagers have been found safe and well
13 year old Jessica Brant and 14 year old Shannon Bladen, both from the Alway area of Newport, who were reported missing to police have now been found safe and well.
RELATIVES of a missing Newport teen believe she may have run off with another girl who was reported missing on the same day.
Wendy Bladen, whose 14-year-old niece Shannon has been missing since October 16, believes Shannon may have run away with 13-year-old Jessica Brant, also from Newport, who went missing around eight-and-a-half-hours later.
Miss Bladen, 25, believes the pair may have taken some personal items from her mother's home on Campion Close and believes Shannon has connections in Risca, Alway, Bettws, Cardiff and also London where she has run away to before.
Miss Bladen, who lives with partner Daniel Battersby, 26, her two children Kevin Wright, six, and Dylan Williams, 14 months, her mother Carol Bladen and father Brian Williams, said the pair may have a mobile phone with them.
"I have been questioning Shannon's friends on Facebook and have asked them to call me as well as the police if they see anything," she said.
"I have been looking around this area because last time she was on the estate the whole time. But it's been a week and they are still gone. She meets up with all different people. It's beyond now, she should be in school."
Miss Bladen's mother Carol said: "The main thing is their safety."
Jessica is described as 5'3", medium build with dyed black shoulder-length hair tied in a ponytail.
When she was last seen she was wearing leggings and a khaki green jacket with a "lumberjack pattern" on the arms.
Shannon, also from the Alway area of Newport, was last seen at around 7.55am on October 16 when she left to catch the school bus.
Described as 5'1", of a slim build with dyed black shoulder length hair, Shannon was last seen wearing her school uniform of black trousers, a black Newport High School polo top with yellow shoulders, a grey hooded jumper and denim jacket. She was carrying a red and white “Betty Boo” bag which contained a blue hooded jumper.
A spokesman for Gwent Police it was a possibility the girls had left together.
