Man dies after falling in river at Llanyravon, Cwmbran

A MAN has died after falling in the river in Llanyravon, Cwmbran.
Police officers made the initial rescue, from water behind the nearby social club, with fire crews and paramedics administering CPR at the scene.
The incident was reported to the fire service shortly after 1pm.
A spokesman said the casualty was conveyed to hospital.
Fire units from Cwmbran and Malpas attended.
Police spokesman said: "We were called today at approx. 1pm report of a man in the river at Llanyravon, Cwmbran. Police, Fire and ambulance attended. The man was retrieved and first aid was administered at the scene. He was then taken to Royal Gwent Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. No suspicious circumstances.
