A GWENT AM who is natural resources minister has been publicly criticised for giving contradictory evidence to an Assembly committee.
Lord Dafydd Elis-Thomas said in a letter that Alun Davies didn’t give enough information or wasn’t sufficiently clear when he spoke to his environment and sustainability committee earlier this month.
But a Welsh Government spokeswoman has said the content and tone of the letter is “wholly misleading”.
Lord Elis-Thomas’ committee took evidence from Blaenau Gwent AM Mr Davies on his department’s budget on October 16.
Writing to Jocelyn Davies, the Plaid AM said when Mr Davies gave evidence “it was felt he did not given sufficient information or adequate clarity on a range of issues.
“On occasion, the responses we received were in direct contradiction to the information provided in the written papers”, Lord Elis-Thomas added
The letter said the environment committee had significant concerns about financial management within the natural resources and food government portfolio.
A Welsh Government spokeswoman said the majority of the issues raised by the letter "are simply flawed and inaccurate and we do not accept them".
She added: “The content and tone of the letter are also wholly misleading. The minister for natural resources and food will be writing to the Chair of the Environment Committee shortly to address the issues raised."
