AN elderly man found dead in a house after a crash died almost instantaneously, said Gwent Police today.
Wilf Rogers was discovered more than five hours after an empty delivery van rolled into the back of house in Rhiw Parc Mews, Abertillery, on Thursday afternoon.
It was believed 85-year-old Mr Rogers had stopped to rest outside the house on his way back from the local betting shop. His body was later found in the kitchen by house owner Colin Morris.
A Gwent Police spokesman said a Home Office pathologist found death was "near instantaneous" and the preliminary cause of death was blunt head injury.
"We are continuing with the investigation into the cause of the incident. The driver of the van has been assisting us but no arrests have been made."
