Onlookers saw sparks at fireworks displays across Gwent last night to mark November 5, the anniversary of Guy Fawkes’ foiled attempt to blow up the Houses of Parliament.
Rockets lit up the sky at the ‘Bettws Stream of Light’ event in Newport High School. Children waved sparklers in their mittens and stared up at the display of colour, which kicked off at 7.15pm.
Pontypool Round Table’s largest fundraising event of the year drew the crowds to a display at Pontypool Park, where fireworks were set to music and young children given glow sticks. People stared up at the show and took advantage of the food on sale. All money raised will go to local charities.
