THIRTY celebrities have recorded a Christmas single supporting a charity set up by a Chepstow woman which campaigns against animal cruelty.

Juliet Gellatley, founder of Viva, chose to mark its 20th anniversary by raising important funds. Magician Uri Geller, locally based TV quiz baddie CJ de Mooi and actress Jenny Seagrove are amongst those who will hear their vocals on the two track single, released on December 8.

The first one is their rendition of ‘Talk To The Animals’ a cover from the original Doctor Doolittle film. The charity went to the celebrities in their different locations, recording them singing line by line over 10 months.

Ms Gellatley said: “It’s something fun but has a serious side to it.”

The single idea was thought up by supporter of Viva, Big Band musical director Debbie Curtis, whose 17 strong swing orchestra providing the backing track.

The second, ‘All The Same,’ is contemporary, written especially by Debbie and producer Chris Baker.

Viva successfully campaigns to make Britain foie-gras free, with Amazon banning it from its website.

Foie-gras is made from the liver of a duck or goose which has been especially fattened. Undercover filming by Viva, exposing horrific conditions the birds were kept in, reached national media.

Viva is now urging eBay to ditch the delicacy.

Ms Gellatley did a degree in zoology and became director of The Vegetarian Society.

The single can be downloaded from iTunes for £1.58.
