PUPILS and staff at a Cwmbran school raised £480 for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan by running coin lines up and down their playground on Friday morning.
All pupils from Coed Eva Primary School spent about an hour placing money on the ground, which will be sent to charities raising money for people affected by the disaster in the Philippines.
The typhoon in November is estimated to have killed 10,000 people and caused about £1.5 billion of damage.
A prize was awarded to the class who raised the most money.
The fundraiser was arranged by Jean Riordan and Ruth Walsh, Year 2 and reception teachers respectively.
Mrs Walsh said: “The parents have been really helpful. They’ve not just given coins, but money of all dominations. The school would like to thank them all.”
