Driver dies after crash outside Cwmbran fire station

UPDATE: 2.03pm

A Welsh Ambulance spokeswoman said the dead driver was a man in his seventies. He was taken to Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport where he later died.

The ambulance was called at 8.36am and that they attended two minutes later with two rapid response cars and an ambulance.

UPDATE: 12.11pm

The driver involved in this morning's crash has died, police have confirmed.

They said the silver Rover car collided with a tree on Henllys Way near the Shell garage. They were called at 8.40am.

No other vehicles were involved and the driver was pronounced dead at hospital.

You've got the spot wrong. It wasn't by the fire station. It was the other side of the roundabout near the bridge that goes over Cwmbran Drive. I saw it.

I feel sorry for the family of the person who died in this crash that the South Wales Argus were asking people to send in pictures of the accident. You were obviously aware that someone had died, and this wording was totally unacceptable. You are there to report the news, but this is totally inappropriate.
