Colin Baker trustee of Bettws in Bloom

If you had to be stuck in a lift with someone, who would it be and why?

Tom Jones. I was brought up in Pontypridd like him and I admire all the work he has done for charity.

What is your biggest fear?

Heights. I don’t like them, I get giddy.

Do you have any superstitions?

I do not like walking under a ladder and that is basically it. I think it's going to fall on my head.

If you could listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

'The Impossible Dream' because of all l the things I have tried to do. People said they were impossible and they were all possible. Everything’s possible.

What’s the most expensive thing you’ve bought, aside from property?

My car I suppose, just for the two of us (Mr Baker and his wife, Sue). We bought it five years ago and it does 75 miles to the gallon.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

Persevere and you will succeed. I was told it at Pontypridd Grammar School.

What is your indulgence?

Working to help others and for the community and trying to make things better.

What item could you not live without?

Bettws in Bloom. I’d be lost without it.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

To be as fit as I was. Yes, for my health to be better.

Where are you next going on holiday?

I love going down to Devon. I have been going to Teignmouth since I was a child and I love the gardens and the fishing villages down there.
