FOURTEEN charities and organisations have benefited from Newport-based toy firm Hasbro’s Day of Joy project.

Around 100 staff at the firm’s Reevesland industrial estate distribution centre gift wrapped more than 1,250 presents for children, which are being distributed among organisations such as Newport, Powys and Torfaen social services, women’s aid groups in Newport, Torfaen, Monmouth and Cardiff, the Raven House Trust, Kings Church, Hafan Cymru, Bawso, Home Start and Solas Cymru.

Staff also donated presents, toiletries and other items for Newport Women’s Aid, which were also packaged up and wrapped for Christmas.

The Day of Joy was run by the firm – responsible for Monopoly, Nerf, Transformers, and My Little Pony – from its sites across the world.

In all, 5,000 Hasbro staff in 36 countries took part.

“Hasbro’s commitment to helping children where we live and work began with our founders more than 90 years ago and continues with our inaugural Global Day of Joy,” said Brian Goldner, president and chief executive officer of Hasbro Inc.

“With the help of our many charitable partners, this initiative provided our talented employees with a glimpse into the incredible impact that can be made for children in need across the globe when we work together.”
