THE search for missing Newport dad and South Wales Argus worker continues today in Crickhowell.

Seven volunteers have split into two groups and are searching along the riverbank in Crickhowell this morning and posters of Ben are being given out to put in shop windows.

A message was posted on the 'Help find Ben Caplan' Facebook page yesterday calling on people to carry out searches in the Crickhowell area after the page said a sighting of Mr Caplan had been reported in the area.

There have been a number of reported sightings around Gwent since his disappearance but none have been confirmed.

Severn Area Rescue Association continued to search the river over the weekend and the South Wales Argus called on organisations and businesses to join the search. The police helicopter joined the search but had to withdraw due to low cloud.

Mr Caplan, 30, who works in circulation for the South Wales Argus, was last seen on Saturday December 7 in Caerleon after a night out with friends. His wife Danielle reported him missing the next day when he failed to return home.

Mr Caplan lives in Bond Street, Newport, with Mrs Caplan and six-month old son Jude and five-year-old step son Evan.

Mr Caplan is described as white, 5ft 9in tall, of a slight build with shoulder length straight brown hair. He has tattoos on both arms as well as his back and chest. He is originally from Glasgow and has a Scottish accent.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Gwent police on 101 quoting log 295 08/12/13.
