BLAENAU Gwent council are celebrating the success of their recycled sleigh at this year’s Christmas grotto.
The annual Tredegar Christmas grotto event saw students from the Blaenau Gwent Automotive Course and the Training Centre refurbish Santa’s sleigh.
The sleigh made from an old caravan, was refurbished by the Blaenau Gwent Automotive Course and the Blaenau Gwent Training Centre as part of a recycling project over the last two years.
All of the materials apart for the paint and lights have been recycled from discarded building materials from within Blaenau Gwent.
This year; learners from Abertillery, Brynmawr, Ebbw Fawr and Tredegar comprehensive schools were all involved in a variety of tasks to ensure that the sleigh was road worthy.
Cllr Clive Meredith, who played the role of Santa said: “I would like to thank the learners at the Blaenau Gwent Automotive Course and the Training Centre for their continuous support on this project.
“The project gave the learners the opportunity to apply and improve their basic automotive knowledge and as well as knowing that they have made a valued contribution to the festive celebrations for the local community.”
