A BRAVE teenage has had more than 17 inches of her hair cut off for charity.

Not just that, but she did it in front of all her classmates at Llanwern High School.

Rebecca Richardson has donated all of her hair to the Little Princess Trust, who make wigs for children with cancer.

The 15-year-old has also raised more than £400, with the money set to go to local charity St David's Foundation, who provided her auntie’s father with “first class” hospice care.

Jenna’s Mobile Hair donated their time free of charge to carry out the head shave yesterday.

Rebecca’s mum, Amanda, said the family were “immensely proud” of her.

“It’s a bit of a strange thing to do for a teenager, especially since she has been growing her hair for about three years and it’s so long and thick," she said.

“But we all think she is so brave.”

Her mum said Rebecca had been thinking about it for some time.

“She decided now was the right time and she was in the right place of mind,” Ms Richardson added.

“The school have brilliant supporting her, too.”

Rebecca, who is now sporting a cropped number two hairstyle, is hoping to raise £500 in total.
