Labour win Croesyceiliog by-election

FOLLOWING the death of popular Croesyceiliog North councillor Cynthia Beynon, the ward by-election has been won by fellow Labour councillor Nigel Davies.

A Croesyceiliog and Llanyrafon community councillor Mr Davies prevailed with 45 per cent of the vote, almost doubling votes for the UKIP candidate who finished in second with 25 per cent of the vote.

Mr Davies received 227 votes while UKIP received 122 votes. The Conservatives came third with 55 votes, while Plaid finished with 13.

He said: “Together with councillors Clark and Crick I will hold regular surgeries and together we will continue to represent the people of Croesyceiliog, and strive to keep Croesyceiliog special.”
