AA GWENT woman and her family fundraised almost £1,000 to buy more than 200 Christmas presents for patients in the adult wards of the Royal Gwent Hospital.
Charlie Zennadi, of Blackwood, said her father had inspired her to do the fundraising.
She said: “My father was in the RGH over Christmas three years ago and the nurses bought him a present. They can’t afford to do that anymore so we did a sponsored walk to raise money so we could do the same for the patients in there now.”
With the help of family, friends and nurses from the hospital, the sponsored walk at the end of November raised enough money to buy more than 200 presents.
“We managed to give the gifts out to seven wards. It was fantastic,” said Ms Zennadi.
The gifts were all toiletry sets, as many patients often lack these basics.
