CHRISTMAS day was a success for Tony and Diane O’Neill, as they served Christmas dinner to 15 homeless and lonely people in Cwmbran.

Mr and Mrs O’Neill, 64 and 61, were joined by approximately 12 volunteers as they fed everyone that arrived at the community centre.

And it was a resounding success as everyone who turned up was given a Christmas dinner and a bag full of food and gifts to take with them.

“It was the best Christmas I’ve ever had,” said Mrs O’Neill. “It was absolutely lovely to see everyone who arrived eating well. People were brought together and had company on what can be a lonely day and we all eat together which was lovely. It was such a nice day and it went much better than I could’ve hoped for.”

Three turkeys and two joints of pork were used to cook the dinner which meant that a load was left over which enabled everyone to take home a second dinner.

Things went so well that Mrs O’Neill has already confirmed she will be hosting the same event next Christmas.”
