A MAN who shoplifted from the David Taylor garage in Tredegar was sentenced to 70 days in prison at Newport Magistrates’ Court.
Jason Price, 43, of Ty Coch, Rhymney, admitted going to the garage on December 19 and stealing four bottles of shampoo to the value of £11, the court heard.
He then went back to the garage on December 26 and stole eight cans of Lynx deodorant, worth £26. The thefts of December 19 were caught on CCTV and Price was apprehended the next day. Despite being released on bail he returned to the shop on Boxing Day to steal the Lynx.
District Judge John Charles told him: “There is no excuse for persistent offending. You have had opportunities in the past and you simply haven’t taken them.”
He sentenced him to 28 days in jail for the first theft and 42 days for the second to run consecutively. He was also made the subject of an antisocial behavioural order.
