GWENT Police want to speak to a man in connection with a robbery in Newport in the early hours of New Year's day.
Two men, having met in the city centre, walked along High Street, Bridge Street and Station Street. Once they got to the Travelodge car park, between 4.10am and 4.35am, the 44-year-old victim was assaulted and robbed. His black leather wallet was stolen. During the assault the victim sustained facial injuries.
The assault stopped when two members of the public walked into the car park.
The offender is described as white, slim build and was wearing a light-coloured tracksuit top and jeans.
Police would like the two people who walked into the car park to come forward, or for anyone who has information about the incident or recognises the man police want to speak to, to call 101 quoting log number 269 1/1/13.
