SPORTING enthusiasts are being called on to volunteer their services during the Commonwealth Games Baton Relay.
The appeal comes after Blaenau Gwent was announced as the first county in Wales to receive the baton after it touches down at Cardiff Airport on Saturday, May 24, on its 71-nation, 118,000-mile journey to Glasgow.
The route will include a visit to Tredegar mid-afternoon, before travelling onto Ebbw Vale and Abertillery, and Tredegar Town Council is calling on sports fans to get involved by volunteering to line the route through the town.
A spokeswoman said: “The support shown by our town for the return home of Tredegar’s Paralympic gold medal winner Mark Colbourne was tremendous, so come on, let’s do it for the Commonwealth Games Baton Relay.”
