POLICE have confirmed that they are widening the search for the missing Newport teenager who vanished after taking out the rubbish over two weeks ago.

Nida Naseer, 18, of Newport, has not been seen since she stepped outside at her home in Linton Street on December 28.

Yesterday police teams were widening their search for the missing teen, to the Old Orb Steelworks and Stephenson Street, Newport, in their ongoing investigation.

The search is the latest in a major police search operation to find her, which has gone on during the extreme weather.

Nida is described as having an Asian-Pakistani appearance with long dark hair and is slim and 5ft 3in tall.

She was last known to be wearing blue jeans and a black top.

Police previously said the teenager is in need of medication without which she is likely to become anaemic.

The teen is described as a quiet and very shy girl who is addicted to her mobile phone and afraid of the dark.

Police are urging anyone who can assist them with their inquiries to call 101 and quote log number 448 28/12/13.
