A MAN was cut free from a taxi following a crash on the A48 at the Coldra in Newport.

Firefighters had to cut the roof from the taxi to free the man following the collision between the taxi and a bus just after 4.50pm.

The man was taken to hospital by ambulance suffering from neck pain.

One lane was blocked following the incident and queueing traffic was reported on the westbound at Coldra.

A fire service spokeswoman could not confirm how many people were on the bus but said no-one on the bus was injured.

Firefighters from Malpas and Maindee were called to the incident and left the scene at 6.09pm.
