UPDATE: 10.43am
The underground cable fault which caused last night's power problems was at Llantarnam primary sub-station a Western Power spokeswoman said. 344 homes in Ty Coch, Cwmbran lost power for about an hour from 9.10pm last night.
The flickering across Gwent was caused by engineers carrying out tests on the circuit.
The spokeswoman said the company does not know what caused the fault and engineers are working to find out the reasons this morning. There should be no more faults today, she said.
