EBBW Vale artist Nathan Wyburn gave one couple a tasty wedding gift this month – pizza portraits of the newlyweds.

The Britain’s Got Talent Star, who is famous for his multi-medium creations, was commissioned by Domino’s Pizza to create a personalised ‘pizza selfie’ of Preston love birds Kieran and Natasha Morris.

The Domino’s fans received the artwork, which took Mr Wyburn three hours to create, at their wedding on January 18,

The 24-year-old Welsh Fine Art graduate, who is famous for his work using Marmite and toast, used masses of tomato sauce and various toppings to create the two 13-inch pizza masterpieces.

He said: “Domino’s got in touch with me two weeks ago asking me to make a portrait of the couple as a novelty joke because they are obsessed with Domino’s.

“Domino’s did some of the catering at the wedding and they contacted me to create the surprise portrait. In total it took me three hours to finish, using tomato purée to get the details and pizza toppings for the surroundings. They were ecstatic and took loads of photos of it.”

The video of Nathan creating the pizza picture hit YouTube, attracting more than 5,000 hits and comments by the likes of blogger Perez Hilton and Cosmopolitan magazine in just five days.

“I am over the moon,” Mr Wyburn said “I have used pizza in the past but this portrait was unique.”

The artist said he felt more pressure than usual as it was for the couple’s special day. Since then Nathan has made eight celebrity pizza portraits after being commissioned by Domino’s, including the Queen, the Pope, Beyoncé, Harry Styles and President Obama.

He said: “The portraits do last quite a while but you can only keep the photographs. I think that is the beauty of it in a sense.”

Mr Wyburn is also looking for a publisher for his own 300 page book featuring his work over the past three years.

He said: “It’s all pretty cool.”
