A VILLAGE’S public lavatory could be converted into a podiatrist clinic.

Chris Rastall and Shelley Rastall owners of The Abbey Mill, Tintern, have put in a planning application to convert and extend the redundant public loo on the main road through the village into a two-and-a-half storey office unit.

Mr Rastall , said: “I bought it two years ago when the council sold it off. We put in a planning application in October, hopefully the plans will be passed.

“We have had an interest from a podiatrist. There are very little health services in rural areas and this could improve the area.”

The extension works will involve adding a first floor to the building and a new pitched roof. The plans consist of two offices on the ground floor and a treatment room on the first floor.

They propose one parking space at the front off the main road and three spaces around the back.

The plans also propose solar panels to be fitted.

Monmouthshire County Council planning officers are currently reviewing the application.
