A BODY has been recovered from the River Usk near the St Julians pub in Caerleon.
A spokesman for Severn Area Rescue Association (Sara) lifeboat said Gwent Police requested their help with recovering a body earlier this afternoon and they arrived at the scene at 4.15pm. The body was taken from the water at 5pm.
An eyewitness, Dave Taylor, said there were three or four police cars and a police van in the St Julians pub car park.
The landlord of the St Julians pub, Steve Williams, said the police left at about 5.15pm and SARA left at about 5.20pm.
