A CHEPSTOW Primary school celebrated the year of the horse yesterday with a Chinese New Year themed day.
Pembroke Primary School, on Fairfield Road, Bulwark, put on a Chinese-themed lunch where members of staff were dressed in traditional dress. The 278 pupils at the school were all involved in making Chinese related crafts in their individual classrooms with reception turning their role play area into a Chinese takeaway. Other activities included making lanterns and fans, decorating dragons and making money boxes. The year six pupils compared the difference between the Welsh dragon and the Chinese dragon. Jade Wakley, deputy head teacher, said: “Lots of the children don’t get the opportunities to go abroad, this gives them a chance to taste other cuisines.”
