A PERSON was cut out of a car following a two-vehicle smash on Newport's Southern Distributor Road (SDR) yesterday.
The car roof had to be cut off by fire fighters from Duffryn, Maindee and Malpas yesterday at around 4.05pm using hydraulic rescue equipment, following the crash at the junction with Corporation Road.
The person was taken to hospital while two other casualties were treated by paramedics at the scene, said a spokeswoman for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.
Readers contacted the Argus to say the road was closed for at least 45 minutes.
The Argus has contacted the Welsh Ambulance Service for a comment.
