A GWENT man has been arrested on suspicion of carrying out a sex attack on a woman on New Year's Eve.

Police say a 21-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of indecently assaulting a 31-year-old woman in Abertillery.

The alleged attack took place at around 5.30pm on Sunday, December 31, at the junction of Clynmawr Street and Glanville Street.

A man is in police custody helping detectives with their enquiries.
