UPDATE: 7.24pm

A PERSON escaped with minor injuries after their car was overturned on Caerleon road during rush hour this evening.

One driver who called the Argus at around 5.30pm said he had seen a car overturned. He said it was upside down on the pavement, close to a residential property.

Leighton Shipp from Risca was driving back from work when he spotted the incident and took a picture at 5.15pm.

He said: “There were a couple of bystanders but I couldn’t tell if any of them had been the occupants or not.”

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 5.04pm today, Wednesday, to reports of an overturned car on Caerleon Road in Newport.

“A paramedic in a rapid response vehicle attended the incident and treated a patient for minor injuries at the scene.”

The fire service was not in attendance.

A CAR has overturned and come off the road near the roundabout on Caerleon Road just before the M4.

The car has come to rest partly on a pavement and partly on a property.

The road jumped out on them and flipped the car over! Terrible weather today still plenty of brain dead Boy Racers and BMW Audi drivers speeding, tail gating, undertaking like it was a summer days, aquaplaning and skidding..

Funny how any crash involving a chav on here said Chav suddenly becomes the loveliest kid going and never drove over the speed limit.. Because the leffie's/Marxists who post here are with them 24/7 monitoring they're driving!

Because the picture shows the car flipped on its roof and mounted the pavement.. Probably took the roundabout to fast! Friend of yours was he?

Looks to me like it's rolled the wrong way to have taken the corner too quick. Shame Caerleon road isn't too congested and in need of a relief road - people would be swearing blind it was the road's fault then.

For all of you assuming it was a boy racer.... It wasn't. A "boy racer" hit the car in the photo causing it to spin out of control and hit a wall which made it flip over. The "boy racer" then sped off and left the scene. People shouldn't assume. That guy could've died and this other bloke just left him there upside down and scared. Thanks to my mum and her husband for stopping and calling for help. They actually witnessed the accident and not just took a photo and shared it to the South Wales argus.

Yet again the vast majority of SAW readers jump to the wrong conclusion based on one picture and half the story.
Try to imagine a vehicle coming at you on the wrong side of the road forcing you to take emergency avoiding action which caused you to mount the kerb at such an angle it flipped your vehicle over before the offender continued on, the wrong way around the roundabout and away.
A picture does paint a thousand words but there are always two sides to a coin. Thankfully nobody was seriously injured but let us hope that if this lunatic driver who seems to have got away with it this time, doesn't cause anyone else loss or injury in the future - especially all of those who were so quick to apportion blame on the innocent driver

Clearly you do not drive or you would know that at 30mph that accident is virtually impossible. Clearly driving over the speed limit and can you imagine if there had been a mum walking with her young kids right where that wall was????? I think you should be less concerned about the driver and more concerned about the potential outcome.

I think you'll find it's quite easy to flip a car at 30mph, check youtube for evidence

I think you'll find it's quite easy to flip a car a low speeds, looks like the rear nearside wheel has taken a hit side on (probably hitting the kerb) which would do it very easily

check youtube for some evidence of low speed flips
