If you had to be stuck in a lift with someone, who would it be and why?
George Orwell, who I've always admired. It would be great to get a real insight into his life and work.
What is your biggest fear?
Some sort of tragedy happening at the school.
Do you have any superstitions?
I wouldn’t say so but I am always happy when I see two magpies.
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
Piano Man by Billy Joel
What is the most expensive thing you've bought, not including property?
A camper van - but it’s a four berth one we’ve taken all over Europe. It’s not one of those hippy ones.
What is the best piece of advice you've been given?
It is to not be 100 per cent certain about something because it encourages you to think about it with other people.
What is your indulgence?
Twitter. I’ve been on it since 2009.
What item could you not live without?
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I am a linguist and I speak French and Spanish but I wish I could speak Welsh and Chinese.
Where are you next going on holiday?
I know my son soon wants to go to Slovenia so possibly down there.
