CHILDREN watched in awe as birds of prey stopped at a shopping centre in Newport.

Hoo Hoo, the European Eagle-Owl, was one of the star attractions at the Kingsway precinct during half term. Other predatory birds included Mr Black, the Red Kite, and Teddy, the Snowy Owl.

The shopping mall hosted the family event with bird handlers Roger James and June Rogers. “It’s fantastic for children to be able to see such wonderful animals up close,” a Kingsway spokeswoman said.

“We hope to see the birds back again soon.”

Dammit - I thought from the headline that this would be an honest article about chain stores and Friar's Walk.

As a lifelong UKIP voter I demand to know what "Hoo Hoo the EUROPEAN Eagle Owl" was doing in our fair city?

This is surely the way "Europe" is sold to us. One minute its a fluffy "Euro owl"rolling his eyes, next its 20 million angry Bulgarian waiters demanding free beetroot soup on our already overstretched NHS!

In my garden I only allow ENGLISH Robins. After I have fully checked their DNA. Say NO to parrots!
