A NEW Llanvaches dog care centre has been officially opened by Newport Gwent Dragons star Matthew Pewtner .

The Perfect Doggy Daycare centre is run by Judith Gill and her husband Richard.

Mrs Gill, who lives in Caldicot, has run a dog walking and home boarding business for pet owners and expanded her business by opening the centre on Pike Road.

She said she wanted to open up the centre because there is nothing like it in the Gwent area, although there are several centres across the Severn in Bristol and Western-super-Mare, and because it offers an alternative to people putting their dogs in kennels.

Mrs Gill has two pointers of her own, but as part of her home boarding business she can have as many as four other dogs at home.

She said of Mr Pewtner: “He was very friendly. He’s got a dog himself so he was very keen to come.”

And she said the centre’s neighbours have been very complementary about the new business: “The locals are so friendly and a lot of their dogs are coming to the centre.”
