NEWPORT County AFC players helped launch the latest version of the Mini in Newport on Thursday night.

Players including Lee Minshull and Danny Crow as well as manager Justin Edinburgh, turned out at the local Mini dealer Sytner Newport on Usk Way for the launch of the MINI Hatch, 2014’s model of the car which has gone through several evolutions since it first appeared on the road in 1959.

The car has a long British pedigree with even Mr Bean favouring it as his ride, and although now owned by German company BMW, the Hatch is produced in Oxford.

It raced to victory in four Monte Carlo rallies through the 1960s, immediately recognisable to fans of The Italian Job.

Hi Folks,
I agree! There maybe nothing wrong with the car being a BMW, but, it most certainly isn't a Mini. Its just another Car.
A Mini was just that. . . a MINI, and Mini meaning Small. There is nothing small about this.
You used to have Fun with Mini's! They were so small and light, they could be picked up an moved between two poles as a joke. A great way to **** the owner off. Of course, we'd put it back again. Mini Mokes (As seen in The Prisoner filmed in that Famous Welsh Village) were just as much Fun. Even ONE person could pick a Moke up like a Wheel Barrow and move it. I think they still have them on Queensland's Gold Coast. (Go YAHOO!)
The REAL Classic Mini can make a return if someone were to do it Properly and with all the Modern Safety Features. You can REALLY make it The Car Of Today if it was fitted with the new MYT Engine from Angel Labs (Angellabs.com), but someone, who has the money, will need to get the MYT (Massive Yet Tiny Engine) made under Licence in the UK. This tiny yet very POWERFUL Engine will get you around 150-200 MPG (American Gallons @3.9 Litres per Gal.). The Mini's Fuel Tank holds (I dunno!) say, 4 Gallons (OUR Gallons @ 4.800 Litres or 5 Lires for the Metric Gal.) at least. You'd be driving this baby for a few months before you need to fuel it again. Even then, you'd only need a couple of Gallons with the price of Fuel these days. You can use Diesel, Kerosene, Petrol, Oil, Canola Oil, GAS (Hydrogen, Methane, LPG, CNG, etc.) or just AIR.
Go MINI! Check the MYT Engine out on You Tube. There's a Ford Focus being driven on AIR alone. NOT Compressed Air. Just AIR. It was an accident! They ran out of fuel and didn't know.
This could be a new Industry for Wales. Waddaya think, aye?
